FO: Another Short Row Hat (#7)
Pattern: Short Row Hat (PDF file) by Véronik Avery
Yarn: Noro Kureyon, #164, one skein
Needles: US #9 straights, 2 US #8 circs (for the top of the hat)
Modifications: Since the last version I made of this hat was a little tight and a little taller than I wanted it to be, I decided to use #9 needles (instead of #7) with the hope that it would make it a little bit wider. I also changed the cast on number from 40 to 35 so the brim is 5 stitches wide instead of 10.
As compared to the first one I made, this hat fits a lot better (I don't have to stretch it as much to fit it around my head) and it is just the right height. I also didn't have to use any yarn from a second skein (though I used every inch of this skein). Bonus: no random knots in this skein! That must be some sort of Noro miracle.
I realized that I don't smile in my pictures. Though I don't know if this is a good endorsement for smiling. Also, note the illustration of a vulture behind my head. We have two of these plus one illustration of the vulture's eggs. They were wedding presents. This is what happens when you marry a biologist. I didn't register for those.

These aren't normally colors I would choose (especially together), but I really like them in this hat. I have two more skeins which will become some sort of scarf.

I'm particularly proud of this seam (three-needle bind off). I was a little surprised at how nice it looks (the first one went a little funky--especially since I accidentally had a different number of stitches on each needle).
