An FO and the book!

Pattern: Chevalier Mittens by Tikru
Yarn: Cascade 220, color #9338; 1 skein
Needles: US #5 (3.75), 2 24" circs

I absolutely love these mittens. I'd been eyeing this shade of 220 for quite a while, and this seemed like the perfect project for it. In retrospect, I probably could've knit the mittens on US #6 needles and they would've been fine. They fit perfectly--even the length is just right.

Modifications: I ended up changing the very end of the mitten on both sides. On the front, I extended the K2 rib on both sides (as it is in the pattern, it kind of disappears and then reappears). Here's the end of the chart with my changes.

On the other side, I did the decreases on the sides instead of in the center. Here's how I did things:

Row 88: K2, SSK, K to last 4 stitches, K2tog, K2
Row 89: K
Row 90: K2, SSK, K to last 4 stitches, K2tog, K2
Row 91: K2, SSK, K to last 4 stitches, K2tog, K2
Row 92: (K2, SSK) twice, (K2tog, K2) twice
Row 93: K2, SSK twice, K2tog twice, K2

At this point I had 16 stitches left, so I flipped the mittens inside out and did a 3 needle bind off.

We got the copies of Son of Stitch 'n Bitch at the shop yesterday. It's the first time I've gotten to see the whole book (I should be getting my copy from the publishers soon). My project is the Uncle Argyle Scarves (and yes, that's my scarf on the cover!). And, of course, I had to get my picture taken with the book (and a fan).

I cast on for the Skull Isle Hat already. Here's the pictures I took of the scarves before I mailed them off to the publishers.

Is that the scarf you were knitting when you saw the Yarn Harlot? When I saw the cover of the book I thought "that looks like the scarf that the girl who dyes that beautiful yarn was working on at Borders". Then I look at your blog and see I was right.(I think) It looks great. I was across the isle with the wild baby.

And I'm still waiting for the online store to open. I need some Great Pumpkin.

hi! i love your scarf pattern! i'm actually working on it now and was wondering if you could help me w/ something. i'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask these questions so i apologize if it isn't!

i noticed that on one of my earlier rows i forgot to twist the yarn before starting the new row. it's not a HUGE deal and i could just leave it but is there a way to fix it without having to unravel the rows i've already completed? i keep telling myself its fine and i should just leave it but my eye keeps going to it. :P

i'd really appreciate any advice you might have. thanks! email: oonjai_dot_com@hotmail.com
