FO: Abalone (#29)
Pattern: Abalone by Woolly Wormhead, from the e-book Going Straight (both are Ravelry links)
Yarn: Storm Moon Knits Celestial Worsted (100% merino), "She blinded me with science," 1 skein
Needles: US #9
Size: large
Modifications: none to the pattern--I knit from both ends of the skein (alternating every two rows) to keep the colors from pooling.

I absolutely love this hat. Plus I have enough yarn left over to do fingerless gloves to match :) It's a simple pattern which goes very quickly--I knit it up in two nights. I love out-of-the-box hats, and this whole book is fantastic. I can't wait to knit the rest of them!

I see this future for a lot of hand painted yarn in my stash.

Side note: I was trying to straighten up the closet today which led to me getting out scarves/hats I knit a long time ago, photographing them, and putting them up on Ravelry. So there's a buttload of weird hats and really long scarves on there. Just to make you laugh.
I ended up going over to Joann's today to attack the 50% off button aisle. I was relatively restrained (for my standards), and I got these buttons around which I now have to design a knitting project. Because dinosaurs are awesome. On a related note, the History Channel people are coming to Hopkins on Wednesday to film/interview Mike about pterosaur flight. I'll update when I find out when it'll actually air (because I know you all are just biting your nails with anticipation).

Speaking of dorky things, look what just walked through the door! It's the skull of an ichthyosaur!

Welcome to my life.
