FO of AWESOME: Radioactive Jaywalkers (#44)

Pattern: Jaywalker (Rav link) by Grumperina
Yarn: Storm Moon Knits Tornado Sock (100% superwash merino), in "The time I was radioactive," 1 skein
Needles: US #2 (2.75mm)
Size: smallest size (76 stitch CO)
Modifications: I tried doing a short row heel with this but it looked pretty bad, so I just went ahead and did it as written and it turned out great. Silly me, making things harder.

I'm kind of surprised how quickly I got the second one done.

The foot looks different on each of these because I screwed up the first one and had fewer stitches than I was supposed to.

Man this pattern eats a lot of yarn. I ended up making the cuffs five inches long--on the first one I actually made it six inches at first, but after weighing the yarn ball I was pretty positive I was going to run out of yarn, so I ripped back to five inches. There is a little yarn left over, but not enough for six inch cuffs.

Those are, in fact, FO's of pure awesome. I think Jaywalkers are just about the most perfect pattern ever for your sock yarn. I haven't seen one that doesn't look amazing. It just showcases the colors really well. I always fnd the second sock goes a lot faster than the first. You have the base knowledge of how long you need to make the cuff and the foot, plus you're already aware of any trouble spots in the pattern. You're also making me nervous about the yarn eating. My current jaywalkers (the Gaywalkers) are being done on smaller needles with like 100 yrds less that your yardage.....plus, I wear an 11 shoe. I'm begining to have the distinct feeling of woe.

i saw this blog name, and had to have a look.

i knit a ton of stuff when i was radioactive two years ago... and recently found out every one said, "Oh, this is GREAT!" then threw it away because i was radioactive when i knit them.

so, i had to giggle at the post name...
