Gah!
I haven't updated in over a week, which is very weird for me. Especially since I finished two projects in that time--well, technically it's three, but I don't have pictures yet since I finished it about 20 minutes ago.
So we had a pretty busy day last Saturday. First we went to Spinster Yarns and Fibers which is only about 2 miles from our apartment. I bought a bunch of stuff, including this giant ball of sock yarn my Farmhouse Yarns.

It's weird because before I went to Lovelyarns for the first time I had a dream about what the shop would look like, and the shop in my dream was almost exactly like Spinster. Strange.
Anyway, next Mike and I were off to the reptile show at the fairgrounds. I had made a rule that we weren't going to buy anything living, which I quickly forgot.

We almost came home with a birdeater (tarantula) which would've grown to an 8 inch leg span. Instead we got another gecko. She's actually very very orange, but we had just taken her out of the container here so she was a bit freaked out.

We set up quite the tank for her which includes one of our bromeliads. Which apparently she thought made a nice little bed. She goes white when she's sleeping.
Later in the evening I finished another project.

Pattern: Uh Ohs by Anna of Mochimochi Land
Yarn: Dark Horse Yarns Fantasy (50% acrylic, 50% nylon) in #72 (misty green) and #58 (teal)
Needles: US #5 (3.75mm)
Modifications: I used a thicker yarn and skipped the whole felting thing. I knit with worsted weight on #5 needles to get a tight fabric. I stuck with the pattern for most of it, but on the little nubbins I added a row of decreases before pulling the top closed. These were surprisingly easy despite having to knit one around the other one. The seaming was a bit time consuming but I wanted it to be good and sturdy.
I also got more yarn mail! This is handspun yarn from Material Whirled and it's completely awesome. This is the chartreuse colorway, and according to my niddy noddy it's about 76yds. Go buy some!

I started another toy project on Monday and finished it on Wednesday.

Pattern: Octopus (Rav link) by Hansi Singh--available through her etsy store
Yarn: Dark Horse Yarns Fantasy (50% acrylic, 50% nylon), in #108 (jade) and #105 (deep purple)
Needles: US #5 (3.75mm)
Modifications: none! I left out the pipe cleaners since it's going to my cousin's baby (the uh ohs are going to him to).
The color in these pictures is completely off. I'll try to take new ones tomorrow in sunlight.

So that's how it ended up. But here's what it looked like before all the seaming.

I'm completely amazed by her ability to sculpt knitting into shapes like this. I can't wait to do more!
