FO: Striped Neckwarmer (#57)

Pattern: my own--I want to post it here but it might not be right away
Yarn: Frog Tree Merino Worsted (100% merino), #100 Black, 1 skein;
SWTC Karaoke (50% soy silk, 50% wool), #300 Dipity, 1 skein
Needles: US #8
I actually finished this on Monday but kept forgetting to take pictures.
There was a lot of trial and error with this one--mainly getting it to a good width, and fiddling around with the button band. It still came out a little wider than I normally make them but I like it, and I probably should've made it a few inches longer.

Sorry for the wacky color in the action shots--I forgot to get pictures during the day, and it was probably too cloudy to get good daylight pictures anyway, so I'm in the bathroom there. And while I was taking pictures the cat decided to demonstrate the new way she's drinking from the tub faucet. And she's been sleeping in the closet lately since I cleaned all the yarn off the couch. She hates it when I do that.

My parents came up to visit today (they're staying through tomorrow) and we had dinner at McCormick and Schmidt at the Inner Harbor tonight. Holy hell I ate so much food. We had the crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer, and I had a pound of Alaskan king crab legs. Apparently the king crab they get is sourced from the Early Dawn (from Deadliest Catch) and I thought that was awesome, so crab legs it was! Mike did have to help me eat a little bit--it was 4 freaking crab legs! And they're all probably 14" long. Soooo good though. And I had apple pie for dessert. I had to come home and sleep it off a bit (the cat decided to nap with me on the couch with her head on the pillow beside mine, which was okay until she started snoring). Now I really want to make apple pie. Anyone got any good recipes?
Tomorrow we're going to have brunch at the One World Cafe (which is across the street from where we live). They make the best french toast.
And before I forget, I interviewed for a job on Wednesday at Loyola, so everyone please keep your fingers crossed that I get it. I REALLY want this job!

1) That neckwarmer looks amazing! I love it! 2) Ingesting crab from the Deadliest Catch is awesome. I'm jealous. And 3) I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the Loyola job!
I love, love the colours in that neckwarmer! Looks fantastic.
(You have an adorable kitty, too.)
Sounds like a yummy food weekend. Parent visits are always good for that ;-)
Love the neckwarmer. It is a rainbow around your neck - fun!
Hope the job comes thru.
I can give you my totally nonscientific recipe. :)
Crust - mix shortening and flour with a fork until it looks like a bunch of little rice pellets. I throw in the shortening and then add flour until I have enough. Add water and mix with hands until you have a good dough texture, should not be too sticky, if it is, add more flour. Roll in to two balls (top and bottom crust) and cool for at least an hour in the fridge. Roll flat, don't roll too much it gets chewy.
For filling just peel and slice apples, add cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, etc. toss in pie, cover with top crust, bake until apples are soft and crust is flaky and just a little golden brown. Oh, put some flour in with the apples to soak up some of the juice, otherwise it's too much.
Good luck on the yob!
I love that neckwarmer! I'm not sure which yarns you used though...I love the rainbow colors! Do you have a pattern yet? I am near Baltimore too :)
I absolutely love this neck warmer. Did you ever get to writing the pattern down? I would really like to make one.
